We’re finally at the Marsh Harbour airport (MHH), what now?
After clearing customs, walk outside and hail one of the many cabs waiting.
Should we provision in Marsh Harbour before we get to Guana?
Although there is a well stocked Grocery Store on Guana and a liquor store, you’ll find more selection in Marsh Harbour and lower prices. If you have time, it would be a good idea to shop for groceries at Maxwell’s and liquor at Bristol Spirits in Marsh Harbour and even the fish market. Your taxi driver will wait for you. Please keep in mind that the stores on Guana are closed on Sundays and holidays.
How do we get to Great Guana Cay?
Albury’s Ferry has 3 or 4 trips to Guana each day. You can check the schedule by visiting their website at alburysferry. If you have rented a boat, your boat rental company will give you directions to Great Guana Cay.
Once on Guana, how do we find Beach Walk Cottage?
Our caretaker, Pat Weatherford, will meet you at the Public Dock. Generally speaking, check in time is 3:00pm, check out time 10:00am.
Do we need to rent a golf cart when staying at Beach Walk Cottage?
One of the nice things about our Cottage is that it’s right in the settlement so a cart isn't necessary to get around. Most everything is within easy walking distance. You probably would want a cart to get to Docksiders and Dive Guana. It’s also a fun way to see the island. Donna Sands Cart Rentals is kitty corner from the cottage.
Can we smoke inside the cottage?
Please no smoking inside.
What do we need to bring?
A passport is a must have!!!!! Great Guana, and the other Cays, are very casual so shorts, tees, flip flops, and bathing suits are about all you need! Some water shoes and maybe a windbreaker or light sweater. Sarongs for the girls are good as bathing suit cover ups or for getting ‘gussied up’. A couple of flashlights, some beach towels, snorkeling & fishing gear, sunscreen, zip lock bags, your favorite CD’s, trash bags (in case it rains while you are waiting for the Ferry), and any special food stuffs from home. (Please no fruits or vegetables.)
How much money should we bring?
Just remember the adage “Bring twice the money and half the clothes!” There is no ATM on Guana so plenty of cash is a good idea. Most of the restaurants and bars take credit cards. If your airline ticket does not include the departure tax, please make sure to save enough cash upon leaving Abaco. I believe the tax is around $25.00 per ticket.
